Often mistaken as a Jimi Hendrix concert, "Rainbow Bridge" is actually a dizzying mix of countercultural lifestyles and politics set in Hawaii 1970. Directed by Chuck Wein, "Rainbow Ridge" tracks the journey of actress Pat Hartley across the Pacific to Maui, Hawaii. Once in Maui, Hartley is immediately welcomed by a group of young people determined to establish a new alternative community. While the film's soundtrack is filled throughout with such classic Hendrix studio recordings as "Pali Gap" and "Dolly Dagger", the centerpiece of Rainbow Bridge remains the 17 minutes of Hendrix's July 1970 concert atop Haleakala Volcano in Maui, Hawaii. Accompanied by the film's cast and crew, Hartley is treated to a private performance by the legendary guitarist. Hendrix is joined by bassist Billy Cox and drummer Mitch Mitchell and delivers high-voltage renditions of "Foxy Lady," "Hey Baby"/"In From The Storm," as well as exciting excerpts of "Hear My Train A Comin'", "Purple Haze," and "Voodoo Chile" (Slight Return).
